Selection Criteria for
Global Projects
In this
age of globalization, leveraging offshore outsourcing and
collaborating with international employees or partners have
become critical success factors for many companies.
The
criteria to decide when to “go global” and when to stay
local with a project are often fuzzy, and international
resources are frequently selected without properly
considering all the aspects crucial to success.
This
session discusses a systematic approach for project and
program managers who work in both co-located and distributed
project environments. You will learn how to assess risks and
benefits of different approaches and what criteria to apply
in selecting offshore destinations and vendors/partners. We
will consider aspects such as cultural characteristics, risk
management, intellectual property protection, and more. We
will conclude with a comparison of pros and cons of relevant
outsourcing destinations in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
This
session will help you optimize the infrastructure for
projects at all levels of complexity, factoring in aspects
such as time-to-market, cost, project risk, and many others.
Learn how to:
-
Decide when it is best to
co-locate your project teams
-
Assess the risks and benefits of different location
choices
-
Analyze risk management and IP protection requirements
-
Balance near-term project requirements and longer-term
strategic considerations
-
Leverage economic and cultural strengths of emerging
countries in Asia, Europe, and Latin America to optimize
your product development efficiency
