In summer, 2001 Product Development
Consulting, Inc. conducted an in-depth benchmarking study with
senior executives at 25 leading companies defining their current
state of collaborative design. The purpose of the study was to gain
deep insights about the obstacles, approaches, problems and best
practices in collaborative design.
This presentation summarizes the
landmark findings of the study including:
- Tangible results achieved from
collaborative design projects
- A governance model and how
collaborative design is objectively measured
- A quantitative analysis of
participants’:
- Communication methods across
their extended enterprise
- Project resource utilization
shifts versus a traditional collocated project
- Cultural change priorities in
moving to a collaborative environment
- A composite "Best Practices Model"
for the collaborative design process
- An objective "from the field"
evaluation of web-based collaboration tools
