François Auzerais, who is based
at Schlumberger-Doll Research in Ridgefield, Connecticut,
U.S.A., is Vice President Research, Oilfield Services. He joined
Schlumberger in 1982 as a field engineer with several postings
in South America, and later worked at Schlumberger-Doll Research
as Program Manager in the Reservoir Optimization group. He then
moved to the Schlumberger Riboud Product Center in Clamart,
France, as Product Development Manager for the Reservoir
Monitoring and Control Department. François received a Ph.D. in
Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, located in the
state of New Jersey, U.S.A.. |

Since joining Caterpillar
Inc. in 1988, Bill has held a variety of development and
management positions throughout Caterpillar's engine businesses,
including truck, machine, marine, fuel systems and advanced
research concepts. Throughout Bill's career, he has had a unique
opportunity to build a broad range of international business and
licensing relationships incorporating Caterpillar's
technologies. In 2000 Bill began building a corporate technology
licensing program within Caterpillar's Legal Services Division.

Having studied in Austria and the United
States, Bill holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering and
physics and a masters in business administration, both from
Bradley University. Bill spent three years at Sundstrand
Aviation (now Hamilton Sundstrand) in Rockford, Illinois as a
fluid systems engineer with quality assurance responsibilities
for the Tomahawk Missile, F-18A fighter and Space Shuttle fluid
pumping programs. |

Frank J. Cappuccio is
currently the Lockheed Martin Corporation Vice President &
General Manager of the Lockheed Martin Advanced Development
Programs, tasked with the pursuit, capture and selective
execution of new business.
Mr. Cappuccio has thirty
years of comprehensive and diverse management and engineer-ing
experience associated with "cradle to grave" acquisition,
development and deploy-ment of "High Tech" products, i.e.,
tactical missiles, aircraft, fixed wing and helicopter,
navigational computers, gyroscopic equipment, automatic test
equipment, etc. His level of diversity is the result of a steady
progression in the technical ranks coupled with the planning,
decision making and implementation skills acquired in executing
programs. Augmenting his company operational experience is his
corporate experience in strategic planning, acquisitions and
mergers as well as program and technology management. The
blending of this experience base has yielded an effective
operational leadership style and a versatile resource management
capability.
Frank J. Cappuccio was the
Lockheed Martin Corporation Vice President of the Joint Strike
Fighter (JSF) Program.Prior to JSF, Mr. Cappuccio served as Vice
President for Programs and Technology for Lockheed Martin’s
Aeronautics Sector, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. Mr.
Cappuccio joined Lockheed Martin in 1995 and was Vice President
of Surveillance and Command Aircraft programs at Lockheed Martin
Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, Georgia. Previously, Mr.
Cappuccio was Vice President of Rockwell International’s
Advanced Systems business area, and he served as Program
Director of Martin Marietta’s advanced development and
technology operations from 1990-1994.
He holds an MBA from Adelphi
University, a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical
Engineering from City College of New York. He was born October
6, 1946. He and his wife, Jean, have two children. |

Dr. Dionne is Vice President and
General Manager of Technology Business for Millennium
Pharmaceutical Inc. He is responsible for building Millennium’s
technology platform through external technology acquisition and

Alliance and the Millennium/Aventis Technology Alliance.
Previous to this role, Dr. Dionne was responsible for program
management across Millennium’s Technology Development division

Institute. Prior to Millennium, Dr. Dionne led the development
of the DurosTM family of implantable drug delivery systems at

Steve Evans has spent over
12 years working in industry, followed by 12 years in academia.
His initial industrial experience was in industrial engineering
roles leading to an emphasis on improving engineering
performance.
Steve’s last industrial post was
Engineering Systems Manager at Martin-Baker Engineering Limited,
the world leading manufacturer of ejection seats.
Since 1988 Steve has continued his
interest in World Class Product Development and Concurrent
Engineering at Cranfield University. His interests are in the
implementation of improved product development processes and in
bringing environmental concerns into product development. Steve
works with blue-chip organisations worldwide to improve their
NPD processes and to increase our knowledge of what works.
Professor Evans is a
graduate of the University of Bath, has a doctorate in
Manufacturing Systems Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer.
He holds the title Professor of Life Cycle Engineering and is
Head of the International Ecotechnology Research Centre at
Cranfield University. |

Robert J. (Bob) Herbold is an
unparalleled authority on business operations (including IT),
marketing and—more valuably—the dynamic relation between the
two. His unique experience with two of the premier enterprises
of our time are the reason. Both firms have mastered the art of
marketing, but their operational cultures are diametrically
opposed. Procter & Gamble is the epitome of business discipline;
Microsoft Corporation is the signature home of
self-organization. During his tenure, the marketing success of
both companies accelerated—and so did their profitability.
Herbold joined Microsoft in November 1994 as Executive Vice
President and Chuef Operating Officer. During histenure in the
positions until February 2001, he was responsible for finance,
manufacturing and distribution, information systems, market
research and public relations. During his years as COO,
Microsoft not only met the operational needs of a five-fold
increase in revenue, but also generated a nine-fold increase in
profits.
Herbold currently works part time for Microsoft as Executive
Vice President assisting in the government, industry, and
customer areas, after retiring as executive vice president and
chief operating officer of Microsoft. He also has recently
launched Herbold Group, LLC, which consults with CEO’s on
strategy and profitability issues. Herbold serves on the Board
of Directors of Weyerhaeuser Corporation, Agilent Technologies,
Immunex Corporation, Terabeam Networks, and World Wide Packets,
Inc.
Herbold has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University
of Cincinnati and both a master’s degree in mathematics and a
Ph.D. in computer science from Case Western Reserve University.
Bob is a member of the Washington Roundtable, the James Madison
Council of the Library of Congress and the Executive Council of
TechNet. He also is on the Board of Directors of the Information
Technology Association of America and the Internet Policy
Institute. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Trustees
of Case Western Reserve University, the Seattle Foundation, the

Bruce Lehman is
President and CEO of the International Intellectual Property
Institute (IIPI), a non-partisan, not-for-profit institution,
based in Washington, D.C. The Institute fosters the creation of
modern intellectual property systems and the use of intellectual
property rights as a mechanism for investment, technology
transfer and the creation of wealth in developing countries of
the world.
In addition to
his involvement with IIPI, Mr. Lehman is a member of the Policy
Advisory Commission to the Director General of the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the specialized
United Nations agency headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. He
is President of the U.S. Committee for the WIPO and is a member
of several corporate Boards.
From August
1993 through 1998, Mr. Lehman served as Assistant Secretary of
Commerce and United States Commissioner of Patents and
Trademarks. As the Clinton Administration’s primary
representative for intellectual property rights protection, he
was a key player on these issues, both domestically and
internationally.
For ten years
prior to joining the Clinton Administration, Mr. Lehman was a
partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Swidler & Berlin.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Lehman worked for nine
years in the U.S. House of Representatives as Counsel to the
Committee on the Judiciary and Chief Counsel to the Subcommittee
on Courts, Civil Liberties, and the Administration of Justice.
Mr. Lehman was the Committee’s principal legal adviser in the
drafting of the 1976 Copyright Act, the 1980 Computer Software
Amendments, and 1982 amendments to the Patent Laws.
Earlier in his
career, Mr. Lehman served as legal counsel to the Wisconsin
State Legislature, as an attorney with the U.S. Department of
Justice, and as an officer in the U.S.
He was born on
September 19, 1945, and attended the University of
Wisconsin—earning a B.A. in 1967, and a J.D. in 1970. He is a
member of the Bar of the District of Columbia. |

Baruch Lev is the Philip
Bardes Professor of Accounting and Finance at New York
University, Stern School of Business, the Director of the
Vincent C. Ross Institute for Accounting Research and the
Project for Research on Intangibles. He earned his MBA and Ph.D.
degrees from the University of Chicago. Served on the faculty of
the University of Chicago, University of California-Berkeley
(jointly at the business and law schools) and Tel Aviv
University (where he was dean of the business school). He is a
permanent visitor at Ecole Nationale Des Ponts and Chaussees
(Paris) and City University Business School (London).
Professor Lev's research spans three books
and about 75 research studies published in the leading
accounting, finance and economic journals. This research
concerns the optimal use of information in investment decisions;
business valuation issues; corporate governance; and recently
intangible investments (intellectual capital). In particular,
the measurement, valuation and reporting issues concerning
intangible investments. In recognition of this research,
Professor Lev was awarded numerous prizes and an honorary
doctorate.
Professor Lev's professional experience
includes public accounting (auditing), investment banking, board
membership, and numerous consulting engagements in the areas of
corporate valuation, intellectual property, utility regulation,
securities disputes and corporate governance issues. He lectures
internationally and conducts executive seminars on finance,
accounting and intellectual capital issues, working closely with
such institutions as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the
Financial Accounting Standards Board, OECD, the European Union,
and the Brookings Institution.
He was recently elected by Accounting Today (September 27, 1999)
to the Top 100 Most Influential People in the profession --
those who "are changing the way in which the profession does
business," and re-elected on October 8th, 2000 to the year 2000
list of the 100 "most influential people." |

Over the course of his
fifteen-year career in intellectual capital management and
commercialization, Mr. Matteo has acquired extensive experience
in the full-spectrum management of corporate intellectual
capital assets: from optimizing their creation and capture, to
extracting value from them through vehicles such as licensing
and spin-outs.
Currently with Hewlett-Packard, where he
was brought in to create and manage a world-class licensing
organization, Mr. Matteo directs intellectual property licensing
for the entire corporation. Mr. Matteo has also held the
position of Licensing Manager at Xerox’s world-famous Palo Alto
Research Center, where he was in charge of all IP licensing for
Xerox PARC, Xerox’s European Research Centers, as well all
intellectual capital related aspects of Xerox’s spin-out and M&A
activities. Prior to joining Xerox, Mr. Matteo served as
president of Savanteque Incorporated: a technology management
consulting firm specializing in intellectual capital management.
With regard to international experience, Mr. Matteo also lived
in Japan where he directed technology licensing and strategic
alliances for one of Japan's largest computer manufacturers. In
addition to his private sector work, Mr. Matteo adds licensing
for Lawrence Livermore National laboratory and the University Of
California to his palette of skills and experience.

Dr. McCamey has worked for
Procter & Gamble for 23 years. Prior to starting with P&G, he
received his B.S. in chemistry and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry
from the University of New Mexico. He began his career with P&G
in R&D as an analytical chemist in the Food & Beverage business.
He has led Health Care research projects and has managed the
analytical chemistry organization supporting upstream Health
Care research.
In 1989, Dr. McCamey switched careers and began

Bernard Mont-Reynaud, a
graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, France, spent much
of his career pioneering research and advanced applications.
After some initial research at INRIA, France, he went to
Stanford University for a PhD in Computer Science, taught CS at
UCB and then spent the 1980's at CCRMA (Stanford's Center for
Computer Research in Music and Acoustics) where he did
interdisciplinary research in audio and music analysis,
revolving notably around the visualization of music, modeling
human perception, and the deep parallels between vision and
hearing. In parallel with research, he also participated in
advanced R&D at places such as Lucasfilm, Xerox PARC, Studer
Editech and FXPAL. Alongside his interests in image processing,
real-time systems and UI design, he is fascinated with people,
and with understanding the 'human factors' that make projects
thrive or fall apart.

Daniel Mooney

As vice president of Product
Development, Dan Mooney leads the group responsible for
developing new and derivative commercial airplane products and
features. This includes preliminary design, enabling
technologies, and Phantom Works advanced commercial research and
development as well as product and feature strategy. Prior to
assuming this position in May 2001, Mooney served as deputy to
the vice president of Product Strategy and Development.
Earlier he served as chief
project engineer for 767 Program, leading the 767 platform team
and overseeing the technical direction across the various
engineering disciplines for 767 airplanes. Previously Mooney was
757 deputy chief project engineer, a position he assumed in
October 1998. Prior to that assignment, he was chief project
engineer for the 757-300, responsible for overseeing the design,
testing and certification of the stretch version of the 757.
Before joining the 757-300 program in March 1996, Mooney was the
767 deputy chief project engineer, assisting in the management
of technical design and integration activities for the 767
twin-aisle airplane. Design efforts relating to customer
introductions, product improvements and fleet and factory
support were included in his responsibilities.
From 1992 to 1994, he served
as Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ technical representative in
Washington, D.C. As the manager of aviation affairs, he provided
technical liaison with government agencies such as NASA and the
Federal Aviation Administration, as well as with aviation trade
associations and professional societies. Earlier, Mooney was
involved with the design and analysis of advanced composite
structures. He has also worked on a number of advanced composite
development projects, including the 7J7 empennage and the V-22
tiltrotor aircraft wing.
He joined the company in
1980 as a stress analyst and spent his first year with the
company at Boeing in Philadelphia, Pa. Mooney has a bachelor of
science degree in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State
University. |

Gerard Mooney

Mr. Mooney is IBM’s Vice
President for Venture Capital Relations. In this capacity he has
worldwide responsibility for developing strategic relationships
with influential venture capital firms and their strategic
portfolio companies. His team of professionals, based in Silicon
Valley, focuses on a broad array of emerging markets of interest
to IBM’s businesses.
Prior to joining IBM, Mr.
Mooney held a variety of management positions at
Hewlett-Packard. While at HP his responsibilities ranged from
spearheading HP’s corporate new venture program to running the
Customer Education Division. Mr. Mooney also was responsible for
management oversight and support of HP’s Display Products
venture that developed a new projection display technology in
HP’s Labs. In addition, Mr. Mooney managed HP’s Bioscience
program, which developed DNA arrays using HP’s inkjet
technology. The DNA array initiative is now a key program in
Agilent Technologies’ (the HP spin-off) Life Sciences Division.
Mr. Mooney joined HP with
their acquisition of Edge Emitter Technology, Inc., a
development stage company of which he was President. Prior to
joining Edge Emitter Technology, Mr. Mooney held a variety of
management positions at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in
Merger and Acquisitions. He began his career as an officer in
the United States Coast Guard.
Mr. Mooney holds a Masters of
Business Administration from Yale University, a Masters of
Science in Accounting from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor
of Arts in Philosophy from Mount Saint Mary’s College. |

Loretta Nelson is Senior
Director of Technology Alliances in Cisco's Strategic Alliances
organization. Ms. Nelson’s responsibilities include overseeing
relationships with many of Cisco’s most significant technology
partners: EMC, HP/Compaq, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, Sony and Sun
Microsystems. Her role also encompasses developing technology
strategy for the Strategic Alliances organization and
identifying and incubating new alliances.
Her accomplishments include
building the HP/Compaq alliance into one of Cisco’s most
business-critical relationships and developing next-generation
strategies with respect to Web services as well as integrating
Cisco Strategic Alliance partners into the company’s IP
telephony initiatives.
Before joining Cisco in
1995, Ms. Nelson held increasingly senior sales and management
positions at Bell Technologies (acquired by Intel), Lachman
Associates, Tiara Networking and Wollongong. Her
responsibilities included worldwide sales as well as licensing
networking technologies into Unix operating systems and PC
platforms.

Mr. Sperling has over 25 years experience in
consumer electronics including: retail sales, national sales and

Disc.
As a National Merit Scholar, Sperling pursued
undergraduate studies at Tufts University in Electrical

(Med) from Tufts University. He has been published in the
American Psychology Journal, and has been a guest lecturer at
Sloan and the Anderson business schools.

Roger Stewart
joined Alien Technology in July, 1999. Prior to joining Alien,
Mr. Stewart's responsibilities have included 9 years as a Group
Head and then 3 years as Director of the Solid State Display
Laboratory at the Sarnoff Corporation in Princeton, New Jersey.
He has over 30 years' experience in IC design, semiconductor
process development and flat panel displays.
Mr. Stewart received a BS-EE degree from Johns Hopkins
University in 1965 and an MS-EE degree from Lehigh University in
1968. Between 1966 and 1987 he worked for the Westinghouse
Electric Corporation, Boeing Corporation, and RCA developing IC
processes and integrated circuits including CMOS static RAMs,
high-density CMOS ROM arrays, EPROM's, power converters, and
high-speed shift registers. Since 1987, Mr. Stewart has led the
development of advanced solid state displays including
poly-silicon, amorphous-silicon, and crystalline-silicon AMLCDs
and Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs). Major accomplishments
include development of the world's first Active Matrix
Electroluminescent (AMEL) displays and development of the
world's first self-scanned amorphous silicon AMLCDs (SASID). Mr.
Stewart has published 72 papers on flat panel displays and
integrated circuits and holds 62 U.S. Patents. He has received
numerous awards for his work including the "David Sarnoff Award
for Outstanding Technical Achievement" for his role in founding
a startup display company called "SARIF Inc." in 1994. Mr.
Stewart has taught courses on CMOS circuit theory and flat panel
displays sponsored by Boeing, RCA, IEEE, and the Society for
Information Display (SID). His service within the IEEE has
included Chairman of the 1977 IEEE SOS Workshop, VLSI Workshop
Committee 1984-1986, and ISSCC Committee from 1986-1989. He is a
member of Eta Kappa Nu and was elected in 1997 as a Fellow of
the IEEE. Mr. Stewart currently serves on the Technical Program
Committee for the Society for Information Display. |

Jeff Weedman is responsible
for external business development, including licensing and
commercialization of P&G’s 28,000+ patent technology assets,
over 300 global trademarks, and extensive processes and
know-how. Jeff is also charged with finding external
technologies and know-how that can be brought in-house and
further developed and commercialized.
Jeff was a founder of this entrepreneurial
P&G start-up department in 1996. He had previously served as
Vice President/General Manager, Laundry and Cleaning
Products-Canada.
Jeff currently serves as
an observing Board Member of yet2.com, an Intranet-based
business-to-business company, focused on creating a global
intellectual property marketplace. Jeff is also a board member
of ChelaDerm Inc., a joint venture between P&G and the
University of Florida Research Foundation. ChelaDerm Inc. was
founded to further develop Photoprotective Iron Chelator
Technology (PICT), a proprietary P&G technology that shows
promise for preventing or lessening the harmful effects of the
sun, particularly skin cancer.
A native of Anderson,
Indiana, Jeff joined P&G in 1977 in Brand Management after
receiving an AB degree from Albion College and an MBA from the
University of Michigan.
Jeff’s career at P&G has included
marketing, strategic planning and general management
responsibilities. His assignments have covered retail,
institutional, club, and direct store delivery channels.
Jeff participates in extensive volunteer
activities. When Jeff isn't enjoying his family or working,
you'll find him fishing. |
